My work with polymer clay is an extension of a fascination with surface texture which I pursued as a painter. Using my own techniques, I simulate the time worn surfaces
of ancient artifacts.
I work with traditional images from various cultural sources which I transfer to the clay with etching and monoprint techniques I developed. I apply acrylic and oil paints
and then distress the surface to create an illusion of antiquity.

I'm a polymer clay artist and Quirkworks is my jewelry business. This page shows a metal wire and polymer clay technique I developed seven years ago. They consist of
a hand-shaped metal wire frame which is wrapped with very fine wire, pressed into a sheet of clay and trimmed. Then I decorate the surface by building up thin layers of
clay, sculpting a little bit and/or adding powders, glitters and found objects. Most of my pins measure about two inches and the earrings about one inch.
