Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

I am not sure of how I discovered it. Just by chance. I am always looking for new materials. I have been working with polymer clay for two years.

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

his is toO big a subject! I am only now discovering other polyclay artists. Inspiration comes from life experiences.

What is your specialty?

Figurative work. I have a line of small whimsical characters I call "Punsawanas" The word comes from a friends little girl. She would tell stories and started off with "once upon a time" she could not prononce it correctly so.....Puns a wana " time. My little people each come with their own book so people can write their own stories about them.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

It is just that...it is an expressive medium. User friendly! Just think all those years of play-dough! Why did I go to college! I learned it all in kindergarden!

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

No.

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

Not yet!!!!! Accepted in a gallery show.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I would like to be doing more craft fairs..... have some high end pieces in craft galleries.... And do an installation using hundreds of my characters in a big time art gallery!

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Just Play!!!!

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

No.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

At this point Sculpey 3... it is less expensive and easier than Fimo to work with.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I grew up in Western Massachusetts now living in Maine where I spent my summers. I am a graduate of the Maine College of Art major in Sculpture. I am currently applying to Lesely College for a Masters in Education. I have been teaching sculpture and drawing for many years. I am also involved in Art & Healing programs. I come from a long line of artists. All the way back to my Great-great Grandfather. Both him and my great grand father were scenery painters. I am the first in the family to go beyond painting and to get a formal education. I am currently creating workshops for creative healing using polymer clay as the medium.
