Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

Well, I dicovered Fimo when I was a kid but it was too expensive for me to dive into it. So it dissapeared for more than a decade. Then in late 2003 I was surfing the net looking for a way to produce snowglobes with fimo as Christmas gifts. I was overwhelmed of the number of cool website concerning polymer clay. I was looking at really astnonishing works of art made with clay by using the caning technique. I gave up the snowglobe idea right away and decided to make jewelry for christmas - that's how it all started

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

I got inspiration from all of the great clay artists I found on the net. Can't name any specifically.

What is your specialty?

I do beads and jewelry, lots of caning and texture work.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

Well, I think PC is one of the most versatile mediums an artist can use for expression. Every day you discover a new way to treat the clay;)

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

Not yet unfortunately, but I'm working on it. I finished some tutorials to be published in magazines. No book project planned so far.

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

No, not yet. I participated (unsuccessfully) at last years Progress and Possibilities Competition at npcg.org. I have a few entries for this year's competition too....we'll see...

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I hope to improve my skills, develop smething new and mostly try to sell a bit more of my art to cover all these expenses.

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Just dive in - your muse will come along when you find out how vesatile this material really is....

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

I'm member of NPCG and co-founder of our german guild "Polyclaykunst.de"

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

I use Fimo Classic (and sometimes Kato clay) because these are the firmest clay.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

Well, I'm a graphic designer in "real life". I'm running my own little agency for classical print and new media. I'm married to a great husband and have a 7 years old son who keeps me young.
