Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

About 3 years now. I used to make many jewelry items and during a visit from some family members I wanted to give them something to remember their visit so went looking for some kind of clay to make a photo frame and the two crafts seemed to just collide when i found my first blocks of this wonderful stuff.

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

Probably Steven Ford and David Forlano who create the most wonderful mosaics I have seen in Polymer clay and Donna Kato also.

What is your specialty?

I'm not sure if its really a specialty but I concentrate mostly on Beads and Pendants for jewelry.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

Because it is so versitile. I have found nothing yet that it wont do. And the beauty is that even if I don't get the effect you set out to, I will still end up with something wonderful. I can swirl it into something marbled which looks like I spent a lot of time doing, and if I marble too much and end up with an ugly shade of gray I just use it for fillers in my beads so there is no waste.

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

No, I still consider myself a learner. I would like to learn as much as possible and maybe publish something in the future.

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

No not yet.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I would like to open my own bead shop and devote all my time to selling my own beads and completed Polymer Clay Jewelry.

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Read all the tips and tricks from seasoned artists who have all been in your shoes and any books you can find also and just have fun with it. Buy a Pasta machine - you will find it invaluable.

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

I am a member of the Polymer Clay Central Web ring with my site and the Green Bay Bead society.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

I am an absolute die hard Sculpey user. They have a wonderful product line that suites all my needs.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I have a wonderful spouse who supports my love of Polymer Clay and crafting in general and who never complains when I devote much of my time to it. We have two cats and live in a lovely part of the country - Wisconsin.
