I've been using polymer clay for 5 years.

Maureen Carlson

What is your specialty?

People, dolls, Bears

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

It just seems to work great for me. It's easily available in the small farm area I live in.

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

No, but I hope to when I am older.

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

Yes, I've won 1st place at the local, County, and state fairs for the past 5 years.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

Well, I will be 20 and hope to be a well known polymer clay artist by then, maybe with a book.

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Once your hooked on polymer clay there is no getting out. Don't fight it.

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

I belong to the St.Lawrence art council.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

I like Premo Sculpey for my small creations. I prefer soft Fimo for my larger 14-16 inch dolls.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I am 15 and live in a really small area (Walmart is an hour away) and have had no training in polymer clay. I am also homeschooled. I got a polymer clay kit for Christmas when I was 10. I am going to start giving classes hopfully this year.I love, love, love the stuff!
