Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
My mother (Jill Ball) is a professional sculptor. I have been using polymer clays for 10 years.
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
My mother's work garnered my initial interest and artists such as FITA's work inspired me as well.
What is your specialty?
I specialize in hand sculpted mermaids.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
It's an erasable medium...meaning if I dislike what I have created, I can easily smooth away and re-do. I also appreciate the flexibility of polymer clay..the possibilities are endless.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
Yes, I won several "best of show" awards for OOAK work in 2 states and appeared on a local station in VA. demonstrating my craft.
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I hope to take my Sea Shell Tails line to various outlets as well as sell my designs to a national manufacture for a gift line.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Practice and do not be afraid of trying new things with polymer clay! Just about anything can be used as a great tool to create wonderful projects.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
