Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
I began exploring PC about a year ago as an embellishment to my paper art projects (collage and stamping).
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
Phew...I hesitate to name names because I don't want to leave anyone out! Of note, though, Sarajane Helm and Leigh Ross.
What is your specialty?
Happy accidents. Seriously, I find myself doing more jewelry and vessels than anything else.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
PC is like a dream come true! You can do ANYTHING with it at all, and the color range is stupendous.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
not yet ;-)
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I hope, by then, to have really found a "voice" for my art. Right now, much of what I do is derivative...I'm concentrating on learning technique. I'd love to feel confident enough to offer my work for sale. Oh, and I'd love to be able to teach PC!
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Relax! Let happy accidents happen.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
Not yet, though I plan on joining both the National Guild and my local (South Bay) guild sometime soon.
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
I pretty much use Premo exclusively (except for some leftover Sculpey III I have sitting around). I like the strength of it, and the relative ease of conditioning. I'm looking forward to trying Kato clay.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?Leave Your Interview!
I'm 42, a SAHM of three wonderful kids, married to a great guy. In a past life I was the media director for a small advertising agency. Oh, and I have a law degree.
I've been a hobbyist crafter pretty much all of my life...cross-stitch, crochet, paper arts...I never got really serious about it 'til I found PC. I am *so* hooked!
I'm also astonished at the sharing nature of the PC community. You folk are the BEST!
