Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
I saw my mother-in-law using plain white Sculpey to make magnets. She painted them after baking. I am definitely not a painter, so I tried some colors and the rest is history!
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
I love all of Becky Meverden's work! Some of my ideas are originals and some are a combination of different artists' styles to come up with something different.
What is your specialty?
Ornaments, beads and small figures.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
It is a great stress reliever for me as I condition the clay. It is also very rewarding to have people purchase your work and enjoy it so much.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
No. I'd love to be on Carol Duvall someday!
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I started small and then increased the items I make. I do craft shows and take special orders right now. I have also taught a few clay classes and have another book for next month. I would love to be able to sell my items in a store. I also hope to be able to teach lots of classes and make that a good source of income.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Have fun! There is no such thing as a mistake in Polymer Clay. If you cant fix something, then it becomes a bead! The sky is the limit! Dont be afraid to be creative. Sometimes it's the odd things that people seem to enjoy the most.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
Sculpey III, Super Sculpey and Fimo Soft. I love Super Sculpey for body parts. Sculpey III is easy to condition and I love the colors. I have only tried Fimo Soft one time. I liked how it sculpted and kept its shape so well. It didn't seem to pick up as many fingerprints either. It does cost a little more though.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?Leave Your Interview!
I am married with 3 children, ages 12, 8, and 6. My children love to use the clay also. Especially my daughter! They are very supportive of me. My husband builds my stands, etc. for displaying items at the craft shows and always helps at the shows when he can. I still use the kitchen table for my work shop and closets and garage for storage of the items. I would love to have my own craft room one day! I work outside the home in the medical field and have for almost 14 years. I always look forward to a weekend with a craft show!
