Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

I was introduced to Polymer Clay by Karen Lewis. I have been a Polymer Clay artist for about 11 years.

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

Yes, certainly - Jaime Allen and Sarah Shriver.

What is your specialty?

Cane work and Faux Ivory Beads are among my favorite.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

Polymer Clay is the most versatile medium I have ever worked with. Just when you think that you have tried everything with the clay some other technique is discovered. It is extremely durable, non-toxic and a very forgiving medium to work with.

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

I currently have my beads and jewelry displayed at the Kernville Art Museum. You can see my beads in Beadwork magazine, throughout different bead shops in California, and online: www.beadienuthut.com

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

I am in he process of submitting several of my beads to different bead and Polymer Magazines.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

At the present time I am a Polymer Artist part-time. My beads and jewelry are at 4 diferent Bead Stores and one Gallery. In five years I hope to have my Polymer Bead Business as a full time occupation, also adding several more shops and galleries to my list. I also participate in several shows per year.

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Don't be shy, just jump right in! Polymer Clay is a very forgiving medium to work with.

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

Part of the Polymer Clay Guild.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

I use Premo. I find that it is the easiest to condition and to cane with. It also has a wide range of colors.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I am native Californian with one younger brother and 2 awesome parents. I have always enjoyed crafting and art. I have dabbled in Oil and Acrylic painting, pottery and pencil sketching, but polymer clay has been the most exciting, exhilerating and absolutely fantastic medium that I have ever had the pleasure of working with.
