ROBIN RADOY

Your Company Name: N/A
Email Address/Web Page: logangwensmom@earthlink.net
City & State: Batavia, IL
Type of Craft: Polymer stuff!

Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

How I discovered PC? I honestly don't remember. I have been claying on a serious basis for about 2 years, but have made things on and off for about 7 in between beadweaving projects. Now the beadweaving is gone, I only do PC work! No time for beading! Anyone want any beads?

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

Artists that have inspired me, hmmm. Who hasn't inspired me? There are so many I couldn't list them all here, a few are Mike Buesseler, Pier Voulkos, Lindly Haunani, Gwen Gibson, Desiree McCrorey (Des!), and so on and so on, there are so many wonderfully talented artists, I am proud to use the same medium as them, and hope someday to be even a tenth as talented.

What is your specialty?

I would have to say mokume is my specialty, its always so much fun! I use it all the time!

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

love PC because I can't draw, I can't paint, I can't dance, I can't sing. PC has been the way for me to express myself, get these artistic longings out, as I am totally awful at most types of art!

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

Nope. Not yet any way! Who knows what the future holds!

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

Nope, I'm a bit shy for TV stuff, and no awards yet, but it would help if I showed my stuff somewhere that offered an award wouldn't it?

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I don't have any expectations for the future, I just want to continue to have fun, and maybe make more money than I am now, even though Justbeads.com has been very kind to me!

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Yes! READ READ READ! When I got serious about claying I hopped online and read everything I could find, looked at the amazing work of other clayers, and boom! I was on my way!

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

No, unfortunately, there is no guild in my area, and with 2 little kids, who has the time anyway?

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

I use Premo and have started using Kato, I love Premo, easy to work with, amazing color palatte, but the Kato seems to be stronger, and it bakes up to a beautiful semi-sheen, which I love, plus its cheaper, which is a big deal for me.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I live with my wonderful husband Rob, no snickering please, and my 2 great kids, Gwen 7, Logan 15 months. I clay in my spare time, which is seldom, and I sell almost everything I make on Justbeads, seller name RRadoy
