Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

I was looking for something better than airdrying clay. I found it in 1996 and enjoy it ever since.

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

No. There are not too many people who create dolls like mine. I found my inspiration in fairy-tales and legends.

What is your specialty?

Elves, imps, dwarfs, fairies and many more like this. Beside this I have a special interest in the faces and features of old people.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

Because you can do so many different things. Beside the heads of dolls you can create flowers, animals or jewellery.. You can be a sculptor or a shoemaker - everything.

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

Not yet.

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

Got a public-prize 1997 in Erding, Germany, at the 3. Fazination Puppen und Bären (3. Fascinating Dolls and Teddybears), and a prize-nomination 1998 for the Max-Oskar-Arnold-Kunstpreis (an art-award) in Neustadt, Germany.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I'll start with some workshops in autum this year and I want to write a book.. In Germany working with Polymer Clay isn't well known yet. Most of the dollmakers stick to porcelain.. Perhaps I can change something.

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Just start with it. Remember your activities as a child and develop.. It's one of the wonderful things about Polymer Clay that you don't need a teacher.

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

I am a member of the Global Doll Society and of the International Doll Guild.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

I started with Fimo and it suits me well except the color. So I turned to Creall-therm, which I get from UK, because no one sells it in Germany.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I'm married and we have two cats. Beside dollmaking I paint pictures while my husbands writes books (which I illustrate) and translations. We live happy together on a kind of island in the middle of the city of Munich - and I do not like beer! I prefer wine when its the right time for it. And I am very pleased with the possibilities the internet gives me.
