Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
I discovered Polymer Clay when I fell upon Maureen Carlson's booth at a festival in Shakopee, MN and immediately fell in love with the clay.
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
Yes, Maureen Carlson. I took a few weekend classes from her.
What is your specialty?
Old World Santa figurines. I also have added Lewis and Clark, Custer, Teddy Roosevelt, and various Mountainmen and Fur Traders. I have been commissioned now for two years to do nostalgic duck hunters for Ducks Unlimited, the Jamestown, ND chapter.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
I can do anything that I desire to with the clay. The clay is an excellent medium to work in three dimension.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
I have been on television, and been featured in three newpapers.
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I have a web page now and hope to market my figurines on the net and have a successful business out of my home.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Never give up.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
Fimo, I like to hardness of it and the durability. There is never much waste as a mistake can be smushed up and reused. I also use Sculpey for my armatures and Super Sculpey. I mix Cernit with Fimo for my figure heads, hands, and feet.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your
training?Leave Your Interview!
I am basically self trained except for a few classes taken from Maureen Carlson. I have four children and a daughter-in-law. Our younger two are high school age and older two in college.
