Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
I discovered poly clay at a demo at Michaels in 2000. I bought some clay that very day and have been "playing" ever since,
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
like Dona Kato, Lisa Pavelka, Sarahjane Helm, Sue Heaser, Kris Richards, I guess I like just about everyone.
What is your specialty?
I really enjoy Mica shift, I like to make cane work too, and I also make a lot of beads. I sell to a local store that carries the Omega chains and sells beads for them. I make lots of other things too.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
I find that PC is so easy to use, that I can do just about anything I want with it. From simple items to seasonal projects.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
I have not been published, I am in the works to write an article or tutorial soon.
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
No awards or tv for me.
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I want to be able to clay full time and make it a full time job and hobby. I would love to make enough money at it so I don't have to work outside the home.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Jeep trying, there are so many places to find ideas and information, and there are so many things to do with clay, everyone can find something to do with it.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
I am a member of the Blue Highways Polymer Clay Guild. We meet near Springfield IL.
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
I used to use SculpyIII, now I prefer Premo. It finishes so well and is very durable. I have tried Kato Clay and like it as well.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?Leave Your Interview!
I have a wonderful family. My husband tolerates my work station in a corner of our room. My son used to do clay, now he is too busy being a teenager. My older daughter has done clay projects for 4-H for several years. My youngest daughter(6) she loves to play when mom is working. She has made lots of "snowmen" for Grammie(who collects snowmen).
I really enjoy working with polymer clay and have found it to be a great way to help with the finances of the family.
I also like to be able to create with the clay. I like to try lots of things, sometimes they work sometimes they don't.
