Type of Craft: Polymerclay

Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

I saw somebody working with Fimo on a craftshow. I bought a few colours and started with making a very little baby. And I loved it. Now it is about ten years later and I still love "playing" with Fimo.

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

What is your specialty?

Making little people.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

If you work with Polymer clay you don't have to hurry. It takes little space on your table and you can always start again if it does not work out the way you want it to. You don't have to throw it away!

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

Babies van Fimo en Cernitklei (ISBN 90 213 2270 6), Fimo voor Kerst (90 213 2312 55), Nostalgische figuren van Fimo (90 213 2358 33), Poppenhuiskamers van Fimo (90 213 2427x), Fimodecoraties (90 213 2547 0).

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

There have been several publications of my work in magazines and ofcourse I have been on several craftshows to promote my books.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I am still giving lessons. I am building little wooden dollhouses. A lot of the furniture is made of clay, and ofcourse the people who live in the house. It is a lot of fun!

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Start making something simple. Don't work, play with fimo.

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

No.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

Does not matter, Fimo, Cernit, Crealterm.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

Our children are grown up, so we live in a very nice house with plenty of room to hobby!! I teach playing with Fimo and the making of little wooden dollhouses. I love gardening, adore my little dog, and I am...building a webpage!
