Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

I first met and got to know Fimo back in 1976 or so when making dollhouse miniatures. A booklet by the late Esther Olson was inspiring then. Put it away until "The New Clay".

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

Kathleen Dustin was an old friend I'd lost touch with -- I guess seeing what she did with the clay in Roche's book was the main thing that brought my old clay out of storage!

What is your specialty?

Experimenting?? I have tried nearly everything looking for a niche of my own. My most original stuff may be my dragon sculptures, but i'm still just messing around.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

The versatility is incredible! It's hard to fathom the scope one material can have from faux gemstones to cane work to ikat effects to... well, who KNOWS!?

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

I wish! Maybe someday!

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

Not really -- my little dragon car placed in the (small) miniature clay cars competition in Houston in 1996...

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

I have absolutely NO idea! (But I hope by then I have a defined niche and am selling my work more regularly.)

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

Own "The New Clay" by Nan Roche. Read the polymer clay newsgroup on the net. Join the National Guild. Take workshops. Have a blast!

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

NPCG.. Yes -- VERY valuable. I'm also in the New Hampshire guild.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

Clay Factory Clay. Because it is the best formulation, in my opinion, American made with the input of we the artists who use it... still being developed, but great stuff already.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

Well known as a Big Mouth on the Internet, I love helping people figure out what the heck they are doing with poly clay. Apart from that, nothing relevant to say.
