Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?

I lived in a small town in FL at the time, nothing much to do around the area, so I went shopping. I have always been interested in art and scupture so when I found this small pack of clay that said it can be hardened in the oven I bought a pack(this was ~7 years ago)It was extremely hard and crumbly, I stuffed it in a small jam jar and forgot about it. Jump ahead 6 years, I am again shopping:) and come across this stuff called Sculpy III I bought a few packs and experimented. I decided to see what was being done with this stuff and browsed the web, I am still amazed at all that can be done with polymer clay.

Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?

The artist who most inspired me was Maureen Carlson. I am a libraryaholic, and came across her book "How To Make Clay Characters" there, after a glance I knew I had to have that book. It follows me around the house even today.

What is your specialty?

I touch on a little of everything, but my specialty lies in sculpting.

Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?

Its got everything from range of colors, to range of textures. It holds small detail well, and it bakes hard in a home oven.

Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?

No.

I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?

No, I haven't won any awards, although I am hopeful, I have just entered my first clay challenge.

What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?

Making enough money from this hobby to help pay for this hobby:).

Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?

I can only reiterate others...PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Also, don't judge yourself on your first piece, If I had I would have called it quits before I even got started.

Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft organization?

I am a member of PCC, and 3 yahoo e-groups.

What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?

My favorite is Super Sculpy, I love the waxy feel of the clay, it has a translucency that is perfect for human skin, I only wish it didn't darken so easily. Next in line is Fimo Classic, I love the way it holds detail and can be rebaked several times with very little color change, but like Super Sculpy it has drawbacks, it is extremely hard to condition. I own some Fimo Soft but haven't made anything with it yet. And last but not least, I enjoy Sculpy III because it is ready to use from the package.

Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?

I am 24 years old, and single. I am a middle child of 3 and only girl:). I have several pets...a dog (Freedom), 2 guinea pigs (Flower,& Nipper), 2 fish (no names), and a parakeet(Ginger). I am all but self taught, except for a few books, and browsing the web. And that's me in a nutshell.
