Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
I started by stealing my daughters playdough 20 years ago! I had been searching for something better, and then about 5 years ago I discovered Fimo! I haven't stopped since.
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
Everything I see inspires me, other artists, books, nature, just everything.
What is your specialty?
I haven't really settled on any one thing. I have tried just about everything except jewlery. I love to make animals and I really enjoy doing faces and sculptures. I also like to do miniatures.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
I could never draw well enough to express what I wanted to in the way of textures and shadows. Polymer Clay allows me to create the image I want to express.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
No books. I would love to known well enough to publish one.
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
I just won 2nd place in the PCC Home Contest! I was so excited when I saw it on the web I started jumping up and down. (really)
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I hope to be able to continue to find the time to play with my clay. I would love to be able to market my creations and retire from the normal everyday work grind. It would be heaven to call polymer claying WORK!
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Just have fun with it. Play with a ball of clay and let it tell you what it wants to be.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
I'm a member of the Polymer Clay Guild.
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
I usually use Fimo because it is not so easy to squish when making miniatures. But Sculpy and Soft Fimo are easier on the hands.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your
I'm a single parent of two wonderful daughters. One is 20 the other 10. They are my biggest fans! When I make something new it seems to dissapear and then reapear in one of their rooms. I work as a bookkeeper in a Conference Center in Tennessee. We would love to host a Clay Retreat !
