Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
I discovered polymer clay about 3 years ago when my then 16 year old daughter was making little vessels out of Fimo. At the time, I was working with ceramics and thought, "Wow, you don't have to wait a week to see if your work came out properly. I should try this." I joined the AZ guild 6 months ago after I met a member at a demonstration and made a pen. I was hooked right there.
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
I have truly been inspired by almost all the people I have come in contact with locally in my guild or via the internet.
What is your specialty?
I think the mokume gane technique is becoming my signature work. However, I want to perfect everything I try!
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
My Gemini nature is pleased with the vast array of colors, textures and techniques polymer clay offers.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
None as of yet. But someday...
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
No, but will be sure to come back and blow horn when I make it to the bigtime. Is HGTV hiring?
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
years from now I hope to be an established teacher and solidly in business selling my works at shows and the internet.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Take advantage of all the knowledge out there on the internet and most of all, join a guild or group of folks that will nuture your interest in the medium.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
Yes, I belong to the Arizona Polymer Clay Guild. I intend to join the national guild, as well.
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
Premo and Fimo are my brands at this stage. I love the Premo metallics and tend to like the deep colors of Fimo Classics. I keep a block or two of Sculpey III for the kids to play with.
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?Leave Your Interview!
I am a recently laid-off web designer that loves to do anything "artsy." My family has patiently put up with my many hobbies and they are the best!
