Tell us in your own words, how you discovered polymer clay and how long have you been using it?
About 8 years ago I spent a year making and selling cane jewelry. I then quit and did not get back to it until recently.
Are there any special artists that you can attribute your interest to or that have inspired you?
All of the book writers have been a great inspiration and now, with my recent discovery of PCC, everyones work is inspiring. Thank you all!
What is your specialty?
Mostly jewelry, although, I plan to venture into mosaic projects in the near future.
Can you tell us why you find polymer clay the expressive medium for you?
I love the tactile quality of it. It is also so much fun stumbling across a new effect by accident. Also since I also have an interest in other forms of wearable art, mostly silk painting and some embroidery, I find that the jewelry and buttons I create are great add ons to garments making everything a real mixed media work of art.
Have you published any polymer clay books or do you have any in the works?
not at this time, maybe someday. Who knows?
I know it is very difficult to express, but have you won any awards for your polymer clay work?
I have given a few local workshops, but mostly in other media but hope to branch out and include polymer since many of my friends are showing an interest.
What are your expectations for the future? Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I hope to continue with wearable art, incorporating as many media as possible.
Do you have any advice for the beginning polymer clay enthusiasts?
Just follow your curiosity and don't forget to set the oven timer.
Are you a member of any Polymer Clay group,or any other craft
I am planning on trying out the one in San Jose soon. I recently met someone who is a member and who has invited me along to the next meeting.
What brands of polymer clay do you prefer and why?
Promat, it seems to be easier to work with. I especially love the metalics. Such great effects!!
Last and most important can you tell us all about you? Your family, your training?Leave Your Interview!
I am a happily married grandma of three wonderful kids in Alaska. Much too far away from Calif! And mother of two great young men. I have been an artist for most of my life, making my living at it in one area or another. Mostly in Interior decorating, and graphic design in my younger days and later more in the fine arts. For a while I had a business doing custom glazed ceramic tiles and murals, Later when making an income was not so crucial, I branched into watercolor and silk painting. I have won many awards for my watercolor however, that passion has been replaced with silk and clay. I am looking forward to meeting many new friends on Polymer Clay Central
